Thanks for this message. I agree and wonder if we should also be viewing the first 40 years of Moses’ life as a parallel for the first 2,000 years of human history. It’s very interesting how his life is seemingly broken up by 40 year segments, much as human history is broken up by 40 jubilee (2,000 year) segments.

I roughly see the parallels as this:

Moses 0-40 years (0-2,000 years)

- Moses is removed from his parents and grows up in Egypt (God’s chosen vessel (Adam) is removed from Eden and grows up in a sinful, fallen world)

Moses 40-80 years (2,000-4,000 years)

- Moses leaves Egypt, marries, humbles himself as a shepherd and unlearns his Egyptian ways (God’s chosen vessel (Abraham and his descendants) leave their home, enter into a covenant with God, and are taught to humble themselves and remove all sin)

Moses 80-120 years (4,000-6,000 years)

- Moses shares the law on tablets of stone, teaches how everyone is to conduct themselves, and leads God’s people to the promised land where Joshua then takes over (God’s chosen vessel (the Holy Spirit) writes the law on our hearts, helps us to live righteously, and leads us until Christ returns and takes over)

I’m sure one could take this further, but that’s how I currently see it.

Thanks for this, I appreciate this take and I agree with you. Moses’ life is profoundly prophetic of God’s overall master timeline.
